Aledo Athletic Booster Club Meeting

24th August 2009

 

Present:  LeeAnn Adams, Joe Breshears, Allsion Frank, Bruce Frantz, Mindy Frantz, Norman Gough, Craig Harbuck, Karen Hawkins, Laura Heiss, Curtis Hissam, Marion Hissam, Denton Kocurek, Nancy Kocurek, Gaye Lowe, Rob Lowe, Cathy Raines, Barbara Russell,  Cynthia Seliga, Laurie Sheridan, Chad Vidrine, Julie Vidrine, Robbie Williams, and Mike Williams.

 

Rob Lowe opened the meeting with a welcome and introduction of the board members.

 

Secretary’s Report - Cindy Seliga submitted and motioned for approval of the minutes from the May 4th meeting as posted on the website. Laurie Sheridan 2nd.  Motion passed.

 

Treasurer’s Report - Rob Lowe reported that the July 31st balance is $18,823.00.  A full report is not currently available.  Full report will be available for August close.

 

President’s Report -

  • President - Rob discussed the efforts taking place at the middle school.  The middle school orientation went very well and the booster club over the summer voted to fund $11,000 of athletic supplies for the middle school.  Rob shared a thank you note sent by the 2008/2009 Gholson scholarship award.
  • VP of Fundraising - Middle School parents will be running the Booster Club concession stands this fall.  Each person working a Booster Club  concession  stand will receive a t-shirt and will also be entered into a drawing for a variety of gift certificates.   Tuesday night games are available for groups to support working the concession stands, contact Craig Harbuck if interested.
  • VP Communications - The website webmaster transition is going smoothly. 
  • VP Team Relations - Lockers are being decorated, donations are being accepted. For more information contact Donna Young.

 

Athletic Director’s Report - First day of school and things are going good.  Fall sports have started.  Coach Buchanan reminded everyone that athletes must turn in their physical form and steroid forms.  Coach Buchanan advised that more information regarding the DSV server access will be available soon.

 

Committee Reports:

  • Membership - The new membership form is available. Currently there are 57 members, of which 31 are AMS. 
  • Program - The fall program sales will begin on August 28th.
  • Merchandise - The merchandise offerings this year will be excellent. 
  • Middle School - No report.

 

Old Business - None

 

New Business -

  • AABC board motioned that a Sound Director software package be purchased to enhance presentations at a variety of athletic and school venues. The cost for a site license to load on a limited quantity of computers utilized for school functions is $1,500.00.  Motion passed on vote with no opposition.
  • Coach Buchanan motioned to approve $178 for the payment of the repair to a soccer clock. Laurie Sheridan 2nd.  Motion passed.
  • Coach Buchanan motioned to approve a donation of $1000.00 for the Golf State Championship Monument purchase.  Joe Breshears 2nd.  Motion passed.

 

Team Reports - AHS

  • Football - Freshman, JV and Varsity all scrimmaged Burleson successfully.  Varsity home game August 28th vs. Stephenville.
  • Cheer - No report  
  • Golf - No report
  • Tennis - Coach Russell reported that Varsity is 4 and 0 (undefeated).  District play begins on Tuesday September 1st. 
  • Volleyball - 15 matches have been played in a tough matchup early in the season.  Currently the record is 6 and 9.  Home matches August 25th and August 28th.
  • Cross Country - August 11th kicked off the season running.
  • Swim - Parent meeting is August 25th.  The swimmers will be working out at a new location, Tarrant County Northwest College, beginning September 8th.

 

Team Reports - AMS

The 7th grade class this year is the largest class ever enrolled in athletics. 

  • Cross Country - No report
  • Football - Practice has started.  
  • Volleyball - Tryouts started 1st day of school.

 

The next meeting date will be Monday, August 31, 2009 at 7pm in the Distance Learning Center.
