Secretary’s Report: Allison Frank submitted for approval the minutes from the January 11, 2010 meeting prepared by Cindy Seliga, as posted on the website. Joe Breshears motioned to approve. Craig Whisnand 2nd. Motion carried and the minutes were approved by unanimous vote. Treasurer’s Report: Craig Whisnand presented the following Treasurer’s report: Craig Whisnand submitted for approval to amend the December minutes to reflect the reconciliation of account balance to $30,907.68. Jen Boland motioned to approve. Brett Bowden 2nd. Motion carried and balance was amended by unanimous vote. The Treasurer's Report was presented for approval. Glenna Loftin motioned to approve. Allison Frank 2nd. The motion carried and the Treasurer’s Report was approved as presented by unanimous vote. President’s Report: Joe Breshears introduced the new Executive Board members present and thanked them for their willingness to serve. He further reported: - Alice Roberson has agreed to serve as VP of Team Relations, and her candidacy came as a motion from the Executive Board, which needed no second. The vote approving the motion to elect Alice as VP of Team Relations was unanimous.
- The Executive Board has approved a spring fundraiser to be held on May 6. The event will be a skeet shooting competition, with Clarence Ellis serving as the principal point of contact between the Booster Club and the vendor. More details will follow as plans for the event develop, but members were encouraged to reserve May 6 for that event and spread the word.
- The Club continues to search for a Program Chair, to fill the seat vacated by Laura Heiss. Volunteers or nominations of candidates should be forwarded to any member of the Executive Board.
- The Executive Board wants suggestions from members on what we can do to make our monthly meetings more informative, interesting, or meaningful to Booster Club members. Please share your suggestions with Joe Breshears at

- Monthly Coach’s Forum. We are beginning a new initiative this month with a Coach’s Forum. Coach Rusty Johnson is here to discuss Ladycat basketball, and the Club appreciates his willingness to talk about all things related to girls basketball in Aledo.
VP of Fundraising Report: Craig Whisnand reported that all fundraising activities for the year 2009-10 fiscal year are complete and all revenue and expenses have been entered.
VP of Communications Report: Brett Bowden will assume the responsibility of further development and maintenance of the club web site.
VP of Team Relations Report: No report.
Athletic Director’s Report: No report.
Committee Reports: - Membership – New memberships from this date will be attributed to the 2010-11 fiscal year.
- Program – No report.
- Merchandise – Merchandising revenue and expenses were reported for the year ending January 31, 2010. A record total of $81,536.70 in merchandise was sold during the 2009-10 fiscal year. Brenda and Tammy are working on designs for a playoff t-shirt for Ladycats basketball, who have clinched a playoff spot.
Old Business: None.
New Business: A funding request was presented from Baseball to purchase a used groomer for our new baseball field for the sum of $5,500. A partial reimbursement of $2,500 toward the price of the groomer was offered AABC from the Baseball Program. Motion was made by Brett Bowden and seconded by Jen Boland that the purchase be approved, and the motion carried unanimously. The Spirit Squad requested funding for their end of season celebration. Brenda Cheatham moved that the $120 cost of the banquet be approved and Jennifer Lopez seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
Team Reports – AMS: - Basketball (Girls). No report.
- Basketball (Boys). No report.
Team Reports – Aledo High School: - Baseball – Tryouts are ongoing.
- Basketball (Girls) – Girls Basketball Head Coach Rusty Johnson addressed the AABC. Interest and participation in the program continues to grow, with the number of athletes in the middle school and high school programs having doubled since Coach Johnson became head coach. The Coach discussed his philosophy on coaching, on athletes playing in multiple sports, and on his desire to create a positive, exciting atmosphere at Aledo Ladycat and Bearcat basketball games. There was discussion between the Coach and members concerning the merits of restoring a concession stand to the Aledo Gym. Coach reported that the varsity Ladycats were not ranked in the preseason top 100 in Texas, but they are now ranked #16 in the state – a remarkable achievement by a special group of athletes and competitors. If the Ladycats defeat Saginaw on February 5 and Springtown on February 9, they will have won their first outright District Championship since the mid-90’s. Coach Johnson thanked the Club for the excellent basketball program and expressed his willingness to be available any time the Club wants to focus on Ladycat basketball.
- Basketball (Boys) – Boys Basketball Head Coach Carroll addressed AABC. Injuries have dampened the season’s success. He is hopeful of a better season next year and grateful for the effort of the players that are healthy and competing hard every night.
- Tennis – VARSITY: On January 21 the team played Weatherford and won all matches. The final score was 14 to 0. In February the varsity team will play in three tournaments: Richland, Boswell, and Keller Central JV: On January 26th the JV team played in a tournament with 16 schools participating. The team earned a 2nd and 4th place in boys singles, a 3rd place and consolation winner in girls doubles, a 4th place in boys doubles, a consolation winner in girls singles and a consolation winner in girls doubles. In February the JV team will play in three tournaments: Crowley, Richland, and Keller Central.
The next meeting date will be Monday, March 1, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Field House classroom. Meeting Adjourned
