Aledo Athletic Booster Club Meeting

14 December 2009

 

Present: Jen Boland, Joe Breshears, Coach Buchanan, Brenda Cheatham, Jim Cheatham, Lori Cook, Mark Cook, Debbie Davis, Double Davis, Bruce Frantz, Mendy Frantz, Lorraine Grillo, Karen Hawkins, Laura Heiss, Russ Jones, Greg Jopling, Venton Kocurek, Van Laird, Rob Lowe, Debbie Ozee, James Price, Alice Roberson, Kevin Roberson,  Cindy Seliga, Laurie Sheridan, Sue Sprier, Tammy Viken, Craig Whisnand, Mike Williams, Robbie Williams, Donna Young and 2 not legible.

Secretary’s Report:  Cindy Seliga submitted for approval the minutes from the December 7 meeting as posted on the website. Jen Boland motioned to approve. Donna Young 2nd.  Motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report:  Craig Whisnand presented the Treasurer’s report with the following information:

Laurie Sheridan motioned to approve.  Joe Breshears 2nd.  Treasurer’s Report was approved as presented and passed on unanimous vote.

President’s Report:  So far the soccer tournament has netted close to $9,000.00 in sponsorships, including sponsorships from past AHS Soccer Alumni. The board continues to work towards preparing a slate of officers to present at the next meeting.  There are a couple of openings that need to be filled.

VP Fundraising Report:  Fundraising has been very successful at moving towards a committee for concession stand staffing.  The Scholarship endowment plan continues to mature.

VP Team Relations:  Last locker room decoration for the season is Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., be part of decorating for “The Road to Glory”, “Blow Them Away”.

Athletic Director’s Report:  Athletics is heading into the busy season with Spring sports right around the corner.

Committee Reports:

  • Membership – Currently there are 177 memberships.  Membership breakdown is 107 AHS, 38 AMS and 32 at both AHS/AMS.  Soccer was very appreciative of the help that the Booster Club has provided.
  • Program – None.
  • Merchandise – State shirts will be sold on Tuesday 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Aledo Sonic. Purchases may also be made Wednesday and Thursday at the High School during lunch periods, while supplies last. The selection includes short sleeve, long sleeve, and hoodies.
  • Middle School - No report.

 

Old Business:  None.

New Business:  None.

 

Team Reports – AMS:

  • Basketball (Girls) – The 7th grade A team beat Granbury 55-6 and the B team beat Granbury 54-4.
  • Basketball (Boys) – No report.

 

Team Reports – AHS:
  • Basketball (Girls) – Great tournament over the weekend finishing 1st.
  • Basketball (Boys) – Current record is 4-5 for varsity, competed in the Granbury tournament over the weekend.  Next tournament is the Brownwood tournament and the district opener is January 2nd.
  • Football –Bearcats compete for the Class AAAA Division II State Championship on December 19 in Austin, at Darrell K. Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium.
  • Cheer – No report.
  • Tennis – Next event for Tennis is January 15, 2010.
  • Swim – Swimcats qualified 7 boys and 8 girls in the TISCA North Zone.  Overall, the boys and girls teams finished 14th out of 60.  Individual accomplishments include 2 new school records and 4 personal best times.  Next meet is in the Colony on January 9.

 

The next meeting date will be Monday, December 21, 2009 at 7 pm in the DLC.
