Aledo Athletic Booster Club Meeting16 November 2009 Present: On file in the Secretary’s book Secretary’s Report: Rob Lowe submitted for approval the minutes prepared by Cindy Seliga from the November 9 meeting as posted on the website. Approval of minutes as posted passed on unanimous vote. Treasurer’s Report: Craig Whisnand reported a cash balance of $10,999.44 as of November 9. President’s Report: None VP of Fundraising: None VP Communications: Joe Breshears reported that the scholarship endowment committee will confer with AISD Superintendent, Mr. Daniel, next week. VP Team Relations: Locker room decorations are Tuesday 7:00 p.m.
Athletic Director’s Report: Coach Buchanan provided information for a community Bearcat sendoff on Friday at 4:00 p.m. from Railhead to Brookshire’s on Ranch House Road. Committee Reports: - Membership – Currently there are 161 memberships. Membership breakdown is 94 AHS, 39 AMS and 28 at both AHS/AMS.
- Program – None.
- Merchandise – Football playoff shirt plans sales will occur at Sonic from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and at AHS during all lunches on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
- Middle School – 8th grade girl’s basketball placed 1st in the Hall basketball tournament.
Old Business: None. New Business: Banners and Flags – Rules regarding banners and flag display (hanging) will be determined. Cowboy Stadium will be contacted to verify permissible displays. Team Reports – AMS: - Basketball (Girls) – 8th grade girl’s B team basketball placed 1st in the Hall basketball tournament. The 7th grade girl’s B team placed 3rd in the Hall tournament. Both the 7th grade A and B girls’ teams defeated H.F. Stevens in the season opening games.
- Basketball (Boys) – No report.
Team Reports – AHS: - Basketball (Girls) – Defeated by Stephenville, close 2 point game. This weekend tournament at Northwest.
- Basketball (Boys) – Scrimmage at Southlake and Tuesday at Burleson.
- Football – Bearcats advance in the playoffs playing Friday night 7:30 p.m. in Cowboy Stadium. Bearcats are home the home team and Stephenville the visitors.
- Cheer – No report.
- Golf – None.
- Tennis – Aledo JV tournament is November 19. Twelve teams will be participating and three court sites will be utilized; AHS, AMS and the Weatherford 9th grade center.
- Swim – Swimcats competed very successfully at the Cougar Classic. Boys placed 4th out of 27 teams and the girls placed 3rd out of 24 teams. Twenty-four personal best times were posted. Two school records were broken. Adam Grillo broke his own record in the 100-meter backstroke and Kira Schlossberg now holds the 100-meter breaststroke record.
The next meeting date will be Monday, November 23, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Distance Learning Center. Meeting Adjourned
