Secretary’s Report: Cindy Seliga submitted for approval the minutes from the October 26 meeting as posted on the website. Alisa Davis motioned to approve. Bruce Frantz 2nd. Motion passed. Treasurer’s Report: No report. President’s Report: President – Rob Lowe gave a brief recap of how the fall sports are progressing into the playoff season and the upcoming winter sports. VP Fundraising – The endowment committee is evaluating options for implementing a scholarship endowment. A thank you event for the concession stand volunteers will be communicated in the near future. VP Communications – No report. VP Team Relations – Locker room decorations are Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
Athletic Director’s Report: Coach Buchanan encouraged parents to make sure that students understand the proper handling of prescription and over the counter medication and school restrictions concerning the presence of any OTC or prescription medication on school district property. For specific details, he encouraged parents to review the code of conduct and ethics all parents signed at the beginning of the year. A copy can be found on the Aledo ISD web site. Committee Reports: Membership – Currently there are 161 memberships. Membership breakdown is 94 AHS, 39 AMS and 28 at both AHS/AMS. Program – A souvenir basketball program for boys and girls is in the works. Merchandise – Football playoff shirt plans are being developed and the shirts will be available sale prior to the playoff game. Middle School – No report.
Old Business: None. New Business: Team Reports – AMS: Basketball (Girls) – Tryout are this week. Games begin on November 9. Basketball (Boys) – No report. Cross Country – Won Quad County Championship. Football – Season end football games for 7th and 8th grade teams are November 3. Tennis – Middle school has a great deal of interest in the upcoming tennis camp. Middle school tennis is undefeated. Volleyball – 7th grade A&B won Quad County Championship. 8th grade A, B & C won Quad County Championship.
Team Reports – AHS: Basketball (Girls) – JV and Varsity both won in their scrimmages. Basketball (Boys) – No report. Football – Freshman Black beat Mineral Wells 47-20; Freshman Orange won 56-0; Sophomores lost to Timber Creek JV; JV beat Mineral Wells 38-0. Varsity won against Mineral Wells in the last home game 34-9, moving the season record to 8-1. Next Varsity game is at Birdville Thursday, November 5. Freshman Black’s record is 3-6, Freshman Orange’s record is 9-0, and JV is 9-0. Cheer – No report. Golf – Boys played a Horseshoe Bay, Arlington Heights Invitational and finished first among approximately 20 schools from all over Texas and Oklahoma. Tennis – Participated in a warm up match against North Crowley and won 17-2. Regional play begins on Thursday, October 29. Volleyball – Placed 2nd in District. Playoffs begin Tuesday, November 3, at Southlake Carroll against The Colony. Cross Country – Aledo will be represented by one girl runner that qualified for Regionals. Swim – Swimcats boys and girls both placed first at the October 29 dual meet.
