Aledo Athletic Booster Club Meeting12 October 2009
Present: Chaz Brickmannis, Coach Buchanan, Brenda Cheatham, Jim Cheatham, Lori Cook, Debbie Davis, Bruce Frantz, Mendy Frantz, Margaret Harlan, Karen Hawkins, Laura Heiss, Greg Jopling, Rob Lowe, Cathy Raines, Barbara Russell, Cynthia Seliga, Tammy Viken, Craig Whisnand, Robbie Williams and Mike Williams. Secretary’s Report – Cindy Seliga submitted for approval the minutes from the October 12 meeting as posted on the website. Tammy Viken motioned to approve. Brenda Cheatham 2nd. Motion passed. Treasurer’s Report – Craig Whisnand provided an update on finances since the last full Treasurer’s report. As of current date all bills due are paid. Net profit for this year’s Fall Program is $11,000. Booster club has also supported individual athlete’s needs for support braces this season. Middle school has been the recipient of significant assistance from the booster club this fall. President’s Report: President – No report. VP Fundraising – Playoff games will be coming up in the near future. It is time to begin collecting information regarding groups to work the concessions stands. VP Communications – No report. VP Team Relations – Donna reported locker room decorations are Tuesday. Athletic Director’s Report – The new 6 weeks grading period has begun. Committee Reports: Old Business – On October 5 funds were approved to provide Varsity Cheerleaders with T-shirts for spirit tossing to fans. The amount of the purchase was $735.00. New Business – None. Team Reports: AMS Cross Country – No report Football – 7th grade team records are C 3-0, B 4-0, and A 4-0. 8th grade team records are C 3-0, B 5-0. A team is also undefeated. Tennis – No report. Volleyball – This week 7th grade plays at home against Tison and 8th grade travels to Tison.
Team Reports: AHS Football – Freshman Black beat Azle 27-12; Freshman Orange won 27-6; Sophomores beat Cedar Hill 34-32; JV outscored Azle 48-0. Varsity won 49-7, moving the season record to 5-1. Only Varsity and Freshman black have lost a high school game this year. Next Varsity game is home against Saginaw. Cheer – No report. Golf – No report. Tennis – Coach Russell reported that Varsity is ranked 13th in the state and has 114 straight district wins. JV has a record of 5-0 recently beating Saginaw 15-4. JV anticipates competing in the upcoming District Tournament. Volleyball – Beat Azle in district play. Next home match is Tuesday against Birdville. Cross Country – No report. Swim – The Swimcats’ next meet is October 24th.
