Aledo Athletic Booster Club Meeting

Present: Coach Buchanan,  Jim Cheatham, Lori Cook, Ken Fancher, Allison Frank, Bruce Frantz, Mendy Frantz, Craig Harbuck, Karen Hawkins, Patti Gough, Chip Heiss, Laura Heiss, Russ Jones, Greg Jopling, Van Laird, Jennifer Lopez, Gaye Lowe, Rob Lowe, Debbie Paris, Cathy Raines, Barbara Russell, Cynthia Seliga, Elizabeth Van Stenzler, Craig Whisnand, Robbie Williams, Mike Williams, and Donna Young.

Secretary’s Report - Cindy Seliga submitted for approval the minutes from the October 19 meeting as posted on the website.  Laura Heiss motioned to approve.  Craig Whisnand 2nd.  Motion passed. 

Treasurer’s Report – Craig Whisnand delivered the Treasurer’s report for October 19 thru October 26, 2009.  Balance brought forward is $17,166.98. Deposits made $2,609.00 and 9 checks written totaling $7,538.50. Balance on hand October 26th $12,236.48.  Bruce Frantz motioned to approve.  Mendy Frantz 2nd.  Motion passed.  

President’s Report:  

• President – No report.   
• VP Fundraising – Craig has been receiving very positive feedback regarding the middle school parents staffing the concession stands.
• VP Communications – No report.
• VP Team Relations – Donna reported locker room decorations are Tuesday 7pm. Senior night is this Friday.  Senior parents should arrive at the stadium by 6:20pm (Friday, October 30) to pick up jerseys for the 7:00 Senior Parent Night.

Athletic Director’s Report:

Progress reports are out for this six-week grading period.  Coach Buchanan reminded parents that Parent Portal is now available.

Committee Reports:

• Membership – Currently there are 158 memberships.  Membership breakdown is 92 AHS, 38 AMS and 28 at both AHS/AMS.
• Program – No report.  
• Merchandise – Hoodies and cold weather items still available at this year’s last home game.  
• Middle School – No report.

Team Reports – AMS:

• Cross Country – No report.
• Football – 7th grade team records are (C) 5-0, (B) 6-0, and (A) 6-0.  All 7th grade teams defeated Tison. The 8th grade team records are (C) 4-1, (B) 7-0 and (A) is 7-0.  All 8th grade teams defeated Tison. 
• Tennis – Middle school tennis defeated Brewer on October 22, 17-7.
• Volleyball – 7th grade A and C teams defeated Acton, B team lost.

Team Reports – AHS:

• Basketball (Girls) – Beginning season scrimmages.
• Basketball (Boys) – Basketball begins next week.
• Football – Freshman Black lost to Springtown 8-0; Freshman Orange won 28-0; Sophomores won 22-21 against Byron Nelson’s JV; JV beat Springtown 40-0.  Varsity won against Springtown 48-27, moving the season record to 7-1. Next Varsity game is home against Mineral Wells. Freshman Black’s record is 2-6, Freshman Orange’s record is 8-0, and JV is 8-0.
• Cheer – No report.
• Golf – No report.
• Tennis – Participated in a warm up match against North Crowley and won 17-2.  Regional play begins on Thursday October 29th.
• Volleyball – Last district game is against Boswell.  Parent night for volleyball players is October 27th.
• Cross Country – Tournaments keep running into rain issues.
• Swim – Swimcats competed in Richardson on October 24 in the Halloween relay meet.  Swimcats again took first in the costume competition. 

The next meeting date will be Monday, November 2, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Distance Learning Center (DLC).
