Aledo Athletic Booster Club Meeting

Present: Chaz Brickmannis, Debbie Brickmannis, Joe Breshears, Mark Bronson, Coach Buchanan, Jim Carpenter,  Jim Cheatham, Monica Cushion, Scott Cushion, Jan Dedeke, Ron Dedeke, Allison Frank,  Kittie France, Bruce Frantz. Mendy Frantz, Margaret Harlan, Karen Hawkins,  Chip Heiss, Laura Heiss, Curtis Hissam, Marion Hissam, Russ Jones, Nancy Kocurek, Van Laird,  Gaye Lowe, Rob Lowe, Shawn Moke, Cathy Raines, Barbara Russell, Cynthia Seliga, Laurie Sheridan, T Stockard, Tammy Viken, Robbie Williams, Mike Williams, Donna Young, Rick Young and Jim Zeeb. 

Secretary’s Report – Cindy Seliga submitted for approval the minutes from the September 28 meeting as posted on the website. Laura Heiss motioned to approve.  Joe Breshears 2nd.  Motion passed. 

Treasurer’s Report – Treasurers report September deposits were $16,151.10.  Checks written in September totaled $5,504.59.  Cash on hand September 30th 2009 is $31,377.94. Joe Breshears motioned to approve. Laurie Sheridan 2nd.  Motion passed.  

President’s Report:

President – The board is beginning work on developing a strategy to implement an endowment with the goal of being a self-sustaining source for provision of scholarships through the booster club.    

VP Fundraising – The feedback about Friday night concessions from the middle school parents is very favorable.  Parents are enjoying the interaction and volunteerism of staffing the concession stands.  

VP Communications – No report. 

VP Team Relations – Donna reported locker room decorations are Tuesday. 

Athletic Director’s Report – The end of the grading period was Friday.  Remind students that with the flu going around they need to be diligent about washing hands. 

Committee Reports:

• Membership – Membership continues to grow.  Currently there are 158 memberships.  Membership breakdown is 92 AHS, 38 AMS and 28 at both AHS/AMS.
• Program – No report.  
• Merchandise – No report.
• Middle School – No report.

Old Business:  None.  

New Business: Coach Buchanan presented a request from the cheerleaders for t-shirts.  The T-shirts are used as football touchdown spirit items.  The specific request is for the purchase of two hundred T-shirts.  The actual cost will be provided at the next booster club meeting.  Joe Breshears 2nd.  Motion passed. 

Team Reports – AMS:

• Cross Country – Girls 8th grade took 2nd and the 7th grade girls took 1st at the Crowley meet.  Both the 8th and the 7th grade boys took 1st at the Crowley meet.
• Football – All middle school football teams are undefeated.    
• Tennis – Tennis is off to a great start.
• Volleyball – 8th grade A, B and C along with 7th grade and A and B all won against Hall.  8th grade B team and 7th grade B team both took 3rd at the Mineral Wells Tournament.

Team Reports – AHS:

• Football – All teams played Boswell; Freshman Black lost 7-14; Freshman Orange won 40-6; Sophomores won 34-6; JV won.  Varsity won 38-12.  Only Varsity and Freshman black have lost a high school game this year.  Next Varsity game is away against Azle.
• Cheer – No report   
• Golf – No report.
• Tennis – Coach Russell reported that Varsity is 10-1 and is ranked 13th in the state.  Varsity has not sustained a loss yet in district play.  JV record is now 4-0, recently beating Azle 19-0.
• Volleyball – Lost to Boswell.
• Cross Country – No report.
• Swim – Swimcats will compete in the Mansfield tri-meet meet on October 6.

The next meeting date will be Monday, October 12, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the DLC.
