Aledo Athletic Booster Club Meeting28 September 2009 Present: Jen Boland, Joe Breshears, Brenda Cheatham, Lori Cook, Debbie Davis, Allison Frank, Mendy Frantz, Gretchen Gaskill, Karen Hawkins, Laura Heiss, Russ Jones, Gay Jopling, Greg Jopling, Nancy Kocurek, Venton Kocurek, Cathy Raines, Barbara Russell, Cynthia Seliga, Laurie Sheridan, Tammy Viken, Robbie Williams, Mike Williams, and Donna Young. Secretary’s Report - Cindy Seliga submitted for approval the minutes from the September 14th meeting as posted on the website. Gretchen Gaskill motioned to approve. Laurie Sheridan 2nd. Motion passed. Treasurer’s Report – Treasurer’s report will be available next meeting. President’s Report - President – Joe Breshears filled in for Rob Lowe and offered the following report: The membership is reminded about the October 3rd bazaar to support a community member with cancer. The Booster Club will be hosting a booth at the bazaar with a percentage of the proceeds donated to the event. For the third time this football season Aledo is up for the game of the week. Remember to vote and spread the word.
VP of Fundraising – No report VP Communications – Joe Breshears was introduced as the new VP of Communications. A special expression of thanks is due Gretchen Gaskill for the great skill and dedication she devoted to this role. VP Team Relations – No report Athletic Director’s Report – No report, Coach Buchanan was participating in the evening’s AHS parent night. Committee Reports: Membership - Currently there are 155 memberships Membership breakdown is 89 AHS, 37 AMS and 28 at both AHS/AMS. Program – A few programs are still available. Merchandise – Brenda demonstrated the new fall merchandise. Middle School – No report
Old Business – No old business. New Business - No new business. Team Reports- AMS: Cross Country – The Cross Country meet cancelled this past week. Football – Every team won against Mineral Wells: 8th grade A 50-0, B 44-0, C 38-0. 7th grade A 26-0, B 56-0, C 20-0 Tennis- Tennis won their opening match. Volleyball – 7th grade and 8th grade A and B all won against Granbury. Volleyball Tournament: 7th Grade A 2nd at Azle tournament and 8th grade 1st. 7th grade B 2nd at Stephenville tournament and 8th grade 2nd.
Team Reports - AHS: Football –Freshman Black and Freshman Orange both beat Brewer; Sophomores won; JV beat Brewer 47-13. Varsity won in the Homecoming game 66-13. Next Varsity game is away against Boswell. Cheer - No report Golf- This year’s golf teams are comprised of 16 boys and 10 girls. Tennis – Varsity is undefeated in district. Recent wins against Mineral Wells and Boswell. Volleyball – No report Cross Country – No report Swim – Swim team competed in the Irving Sprint meet. The girls placed 2nd and the boys placed 3rd.
