Aledo Athletic Booster Club Meeting11 November 2008
Present: Judy Ates, Maureen Bottom, James Brann, Coach Buchanan, Jim Cheatham, Lori Cook, Mark Cook, Carolyn Conn, Bob Corby, Jan Dedeke, Ron Dedeke, Bruce Frantz, Jimmy Hasley, Chip Heiss, Van Laird, Rob Lowe, Tonnie May, Chuck Meyer, Janet O’Doherty, Bubba Reagan, Cynthia Seliga, Laurie Sheridan, Judy Wallace, Mike Williams, and Robbie Williams
Secretary’s Report - Cindy Seliga submitted and motioned for approval of the minutes from the November 3rd meeting as posted on the website. Lori Cook 2nd. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report – No report
President’s Report -
- President - Rob expressed the need for an individual or group to take on the responsibility for the transportation of playoff banners to Friday night’s game. Contact Rob if you would be interested in undertaking the effort.
- VP of Fundraising - No report.
- VP of Communications - No report.
- VP of Team Relations - Varsity, JV, and Sophomore teams are all congratulated on their 10-0 regular seasons.
Athletic Director’s Report - It is very busy with volleyball continuing in the playoffs, basketball beginning, golf remains active, and football playoffs begin. Coach Buchanan also reminded parents that report cards are due out at the end of the week.
Committee Reports:
- Membership - Membership is now at 159.
- Program - No report
- Concessions - Changes to the concession stand for playoffs will be made to have coverage by athletics for the opening of the stand and the 1st half, and band the 2nd half and closing.
- Merchandise - “Undefeated District Champs” shirts are available for sale along with regular merchandise and stadium flags.

New Business:
- Coach Buchanan discussed the value of the purchase of the software license for <Corecoursegpa.com>, formerly known as the <Clearinghousecalculator.org>. <Corecoursegpa.com> helps track core class requirements, eligibility, and GPA from entered transcript information. The program offers additional information surrounding recruiting, financial aid and other important areas. Parents expressed that the tool has been useful. Jan Dedeke motioned to spend $400 to purchase the <Corecoursegpa.com> license. Laurie Sheridan 2nd. Motion passed.
- Jan Dedeke presented a motion to approve funds for the Tennis team in the amount of $143.00 for coach’s luncheon and $435.20 for tennis trophies. Total request $578.20. Tammy Viken 2nd. Motion passed.
Team Reports -
- Basketball - Boys varsity completed a scrimmage against Mansfield last weekend and will scrimmage South Lake Carroll this Saturday.
- Cheer - ACE will compete at the Fort Worth Convention Center on November 15th at 8:30 am.
- Golf - JV golf won their round with Mansfield with one player placing 1st.
- Tennis - JV completed the season undefeated. Several tennis players have been named to the All-District team.
- Volleyball - Volleyball has been busy beating Stephenville in 5 games and then beating Mansfield Legacy in 4 games. Volleyball has qualified for the regional tournament in San Angelo.
- Cross Country - Ken Wallace qualified for state and achieved a 9th place from a field of 128. The state competition will be Saturday in Round Rock.
- Swim - No report

- 7th grade A beat Stephenville 56-8 for a season record of 8-0
- 7th grade B beat Stephenville 38-0 for a season record of 8-0
- 7th grade C beat Stephenville 30-0 for a season record of 8-0
- 8th grade A beat Stephenville 36-0 for a season record of 9-0
- 8th grade B beat Stephenville 16-0 for a season record of 6-2-1
- 8th grade C beat Stephenville 40-8 for a season record of 8-1
- Freshman Orange are district champs with a record of 8-1-1
- Freshman Black completed the season 6-3-1
- Sophomore team defeated Arlington Seguin for a season record of 10-0 and the District Championship.
- JV team beat Birdville 49-34 for a 10-0 season and the District Championship.
- Varsity beat Birdville 42-7 to complete the season 10-0 and the District Championship.
- This year seven Aledo football teams have achieved an undefeated season. Additionally, Stephenville did not win a game against any Aledo football team this year.
The next meeting date will be November 17th, 2008 at 7pm in the Distance Learning Center.
