Aledo Athletic Booster Club Meeting20 October 2008 Present: Judy Ates, Jen Boland, Chaz Brickmanis, Debbie Brickmanis, Coach Buchanan, Jim Cheatham, Gary Collinsworth, Lori Cook, Jan Dedeke, Ron Dedeke, Bruce Frantz, Gretchen Gaskill, Lorraine Grillo, Jimmy Hasley, Karen Hawkins, Laura Heiss, Jo Koontz, Shawn Moke, Janet O’Doherty, Bubba Reagan, Barbara Russell, Cynthia Seliga, Laurie Sheridan, Kristy Struble, Judy Wallace, Mike Williams, Robbie Williams, Craig Whisnand, and one sign in not legible.
Secretary’s Report - Cindy Seliga submitted and motioned for approval of the minutes from the October 13th meeting as posted on the website. Laurie Sheridan 2nd. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report - Craig Whisnand presented an October month update that included eight deposits totaling $7,851.00 and six checks totaling $6,088.77. A formal report for October will be submitted at the beginning of November.
President’s Report -
- President - Gretchen Gaskill filled in for Rob Lowe. There is still a shortage of concession workers for the last two home Varsity games. Booster Club board members will be making phone calls to parents for fulfillment of concession duty obligation.
- VP of Fundraising - Help is needed at the last home games for concession duty.
- VP of Communications - No report.
- VP of Team Relations - Jen Boland reminded everyone that Tuesday is locker room decoration night. Donations are being accepted.
Athletic Director’s Report - No Report
Committee Reports:
- Membership - Laurie Sheridan reported that the Booster Club membership is now at 153 for the 2008/2009 membership year.
- Program - A winter program coordinator is still needed.
- Concessions - No report
- Merchandise - Winter and Fall merchandise is available.

Team Reports -
- Basketball - Varsity Boys participated in the Shootout in Granbury.
- Cheer - Competition team competed in their first competition at Six Flags and placed 1st. Next competition is in Fort Worth on November 15th.
- Golf - Boys placed 5th at the Fall Preview in Austin. Top finisher 4th place. Girls Varsity won Arlington Heights Invitational.
- Tennis - Team tennis has won district. Both Varsity and JV are undefeated.
- Volleyball - Varsity ranked 10th in state. Varsity swept Saginaw.
- Cross Country - Participated in the Haltom Stampede. Top finishers for girls placed 5th and 7th. Top finisher for boys placed 1st.
- Swim - This year 6 school records (individual and team) have been broken. The girl’s team placed 7th out of an 18 team field at the Dragon Hunt meet. The boys placed 5th out of 17 at Dragon Hunt.
- Football -
- 7th and 8th grade teams all won
- Freshman black lost to Saginaw 12-6
- Freshman Orange beat Saginaw 53-14
- Sophomores beat Saginaw 15-7
- JV beat Saginaw 28-20
- Varsity beat Saginaw 22-7
The next meeting date will be October 27th, 2008 at 7pm in the Distance Learning Center.
