Aledo Athletic Booster Club Meeting7 September 2009 Present: Debbie Brickmannis, Joe Breshears, Coach Buchanan, Brenda Cheatham, Jim Cheatham, Alisa Davis, Kittie France, Bruce Frantz. Mendy Frantz, Chip Heiss, Laura Heiss, Curtis Hissam, Marion Hissam, Russ Jones, Gaye Lowe, Rob Lowe, Shawn Moke, Barbara Russell, Cynthia Seliga, Laurie Sheridan, Robbie Williams, Mike Williams, and Donna Young. Secretary’s Report - Cindy Seliga submitted for approval the minutes from the August 31st meeting as posted on the website. Laura Heiss motioned to approve. Laurie Sheridan 2nd. Motion passed. Treasurer’s Report – Treasurer absent this evening, therefore a report is not available but will emailed when received from the treasurer. President’s Report: President – Rob discussed a community bazaar that will be occurring on October 3rd for the benefit of a community member that is fighting cancer. The Booster Club will be staffing a merchandise booth at the bazaar and ten percent of the sale proceeds will go towards the benefit. Rob circulated a sign up form asking for volunteers to staff the merchandise booth. VP of Fundraising – Craig Harbuck sent an update that the concession stands are going well. VP Communications – Joe Breshears reported that the web host migration is complete and was successful. VP Team Relations – Donna Young advised that homecoming preparations have begun.
Athletic Director’s Report – No report. Committee Reports: Membership - The new membership form is available. Currently there are 131 memberships. Membership breakdown is 73 AHS, 36 AMS and 22 at both AHS/AMS. Program - Look for programs at the next game. Merchandise – Merchandise sales will continue at the home games and scheduled sale times at AHS. Brenda extended a thank you to those folks working the merchandise table. Middle School – Alisa asked everyone to reach out to the middle school parents that they know and encourage those folks to join AABC.
Old Business – Coach Buchanan introduced Mr. Hawrylak, who discussed the benefits of the optional insurance available to student athletes. New Business - No new business. Team Reports- AMS Cross Country – Team members are practicing and preparing for their first meet. Football –First football games September 8th. Eighth grade will play at home against Burleson Hughes and seventh grade will travel to Burleson Hughes. Tennis- Tryouts were held last week. 40 students turned out. Volleyball – 7th and 8th grade A, B and C all won against Burleson Hughes.
Team Reports - AHS Football – All teams played Grapevine; Freshman Black lost 26-8; Freshman Orange cancelled for lightening; Sophomores won 33-0; JV was winning 17-7 when called for lightening and Varsity won 48-10. Next Varsity game is away against Weatherford. Cheer - No report Golf- This year’s golf teams are comprised of 16 boys and 10 girls. Tennis – Coach Russell reported that this year’s 17 player Varsity team has 9 Seniors, bringing a great deal of experience. Varsity earned all 19 points in their first district math for a 1-0 district record. JV also earned all 19 points against Brewer. Current state ranking is 16. Volleyball – Varsity traveled to San Marcos. Freshman A won. Cross Country – Girls top finisher placed 18th out of 150 and the top boy finisher placed 7th out of 125 at the Burleson Elk Run. Next meet Friday at TCC NE. Swim – The swim team begins practice tomorrow, September 8th at TCC. The first meet will be Tri-meet at Cleburne.
The next meeting date will be Monday, September 14th, 2009 at 7 pm in the DLC. Meeting Adjourned
