Aledo Athletic Booster Club Meeting6th April 2009
Present: Judy Ates, Jen Boland, Coach Buchanan, Brenda Cheatham, Alisa Davis, Bruce Frantz, Gretchen Gaskill, John Gholson, Mitzi Gholson, Craig Harbuck, Laura Heiss, Barbara Russell, Cynthia Seliga, Laurie Sheridan, Kristen Struble, Tammy Viken, Donna Young and not legible.
Secretary’s Report - Cindy Seliga presented the minutes for the meeting of March 2, 2009, as posted to www.bearcatboosters.com. Jen Boland motioned to approve as posted. Bruce Frantz 2nd. Motion Passed.
Treasurer’s Report - Gretchen Gaskill presented the Treasurer's report as of March 31, 2009, prepared by Craig Whisnand. Total deposits for the month of March totaled $1,429.29.00. In March, 9 checks were written totaling $2,189.16. Balance as of March 31st is $43,611.73. Laurie Sheridan motioned to approve as presented. Laura Heiss 2nd. Motion passed.

Athletic Director’s Report - Coach Buchanan reported that Spring sports are in full swing.
Committee Reports:
- Membership - Laurie reported that membership is now at 183.
- Program - Spring Program will be ready April 7th.
- Concessions - Track meet April 4th concession sales were $5,500.00
- Merchandise - Merchandise sales are continuing.
- Middle school - Presented a recap of this school year’s team achievements.

New Business:
- Scholarship Committee - Gretchen summarized the scholarship information as written in the By-Laws. Scholarship applications must be submitted by May 7th.
- Gholson Scholarship - John and Mitzi Gholson have generously donated a $2500 athletic scholarship. The 2009 scholarship is in memory of G.L. Lowe, who was instrumental in Aledo community baseball, softball, and football programs. Eligible athletes should have been participants in baseball, softball, or football in accordance with this year’s scholarship honoring the memory of G.L. Lowe. - Boathouse Mock Parent Jersey Fundraiser - Coach Buchanan presented information regarding the potential for a Boathouse Online team store. Additional information will be obtained for presentation at the next board meeting on May 4th, 2009.
- Will to Win Scholarship - Coach Buchanan discussed the Will to Win Scholarship for graduating seniors that have Asthma. This particular scholarship is an annual scholarship. Interested students should email Coach Buchanan for an application.
Team Reports -
- Baseball - Varsity is 7-1 in district.
- Golf - JV boys and girls won district. Girls Varsity in 1st place for District. Boys Varsity competes in District next week.
- Boys Soccer - Season complete.
- Power lifting - One power lifter competed in State and in Regionals.
- Softball - JV team won championship at the Cowtown tournament.
- Track - Boys JV and Varsity have won every meet.
- Tennis - Varsity 2 out of 3 tournaments cancelled in March. 14 High Schools participated in the Aledo High School tournament. Aledo took 1st with 28 points. Several tennis players were awarded honors. District 6-4A tournament begins April 7th. Aledo has 8 USTA Champs and 2 Super Champs.
- Middle School -
- Track wrapped up with 7th grade and 8th grade girls placing 2nd. 7th and 8th grade boys placing 1st.
- Middle school tennis is undefeated.
