Aledo Athletic Booster Club MinutesMay 7, 2007 Present – Penny Barrett, Gretchen Gaskill, Laurie Sheridan, Debbie Day, Terry Hix, April Zambreski, Cynthia Sadler, Jan Tracy, Melinda Hale, Pam Kemp, Craig Whisnand, Glenna Loftin, Mary Ann Loeffeholz, DeAnn Jones Secretary – DeAnn Jones, minutes of April 9, 2007 meeting approved. Gretchen Gaskill made motion, Pam Kemp second. Motion passed.
Treasurer – Craig Whisnand, beginning balance from March statement is $40, 949.26. Total deposits made in April - $6547.00. Balance as of 4-30-07 is $37.645.50.
Communications – Check out Booster Club website. Any requests for information to be added to web page please contact Gretchen Gaskill.
Fundraising – Merchandise – Cynthia Sadler stated they may request $$ to purchase more caps. Spring Program – is complete and available at high school. It is also being sold at baseball/softball home games.
Concessions – Will reorder some items for baseball/softball games. Will offer to all athletic/cheerleading groups to work in concession before any other groups.
Membership – Laurie Sheridan reported that we have 203 members.
Team Relations – Mary Ann Loeffelholz reported that the spring banquet is scheduled for Monday, May 21st. Will begin serving at 6pm with the program beginning at 6:45 pm. Set up will be at 4:00 pm. Will sell tickets at door – Adults $10, students $7, varsity athletes (winter/spring sports) eat free.
Old Business
Legends of the Fall – no report. First American Payment Systems – Coach Buc has emailed Mr. Daniel, but hasn’t heard anything back yet.
New Business
Coach Buc made a request for funds to place an ad in the program for the Texas High School All Star Game (North vs. South) in which Michael Wilcoxon will play. The request is for $400. April Zambreski made a motion to approve, Debbie Day seconded. Motion passed.
Applications for the Booster Club Scholarships are available at the counselor’s office. All coaches have copies as well. The scholarships are available to any senior athlete and will be awarded to two girls and two boys. The winners will be announced at the spring banquet. Deadline for applications is May 17th. Information will also be available on the booster club web site.
Team Reports
Baseball – District Champs. Now in playoffs beginning Thursday, May 10th.
Track – Matt Davidson qualified for the state meet in the 800m. Joseph Farley will also be at the state meet participating in the pole vault. The meet is Friday, May 11th in Austin.
Golf – As of 5-7-07, the boys were in 1st place and the girls were in 2nd place at state. Boys won regional, girls took 2nd place. Update: Boys 1st Place in State, Girls – 3rd place!!! Yea golf!
Tennis – Had a successful spring with several students advancing to regionals. This is the first year for everyone to win their first rounds and the first time to make it to the second day of play.
Cheerleading – Sent a thank you note to the booster club for the money to buy mats.
Softball – District Champs. Currently in playoffs.
Swim – Coach Boehler gave a presentation demonstrating the underwater video camera (Coach Cam) purchased with money provided by the booster club. Very thankful for the camera and excited to have it.
Power Lifting – no report
Soccer – no report
Football – Spring practice began Monday, May 7th. Spring game scheduled for June 2nd. 7 on 7 begins June 5th. Blake Whisnand signing with Midwestern State.
The next Booster Club meeting will be Monday, June 4th at 7 pm. This will be the last regular meeting. New location: Field house meeting room.
