Aledo Athletic Booster Club MinutesFebruary 1, 2007 Present –DeAnn Jones, Brenda Cheatham, Genna Loftin, Connie Whan, Debbie Day, Terry Hix, Pam Kemp, Craig Whisnand, Gretchen Gaskill, Jim Cheatham, Donna Smith, Cynthia Sadler, Rebekah Bryant, Gordon Robertson, Charles Brickmanis Debbie Brikmanis, Barbara Russell, Julie Odders, Russ Odders, Mark Winkelblech, Rob Lowe, Gay Lowe, Cindy Roberson, April Zambreski, Suzie Saint and Tim Buchanan.
Secretary –April Zambreski, Minutes of Januray 15th meeting approved. Connie Whan made motion, Rebekah Bryant seconded, motion was passed.
Treasurer – Suzie Saint, Balance of $48,672.11
Soccer Tournament – MaryAnn Loffelhoelz - Tournament very successful, girls won by points, Boys did not get to play their last game, but did tie Highland Park
Legends of the Fall – On track Fall Banquet –Very nice event
Old Business
2007-2008 Slate of Officers: 6 Positions to be voted on. Remaining positions are appointed committee chairs. The slate voted on includes: President - Glenna Loftin VP - Team Relations - Brenda Cheatham VP - Fundraising - Debbie Day VP - Communications - Gretchen Gaskill Secretary - DeeAnn Jones Treasurer - Craig Whisnand
A vote was taken, 22 voted for the slate as presented, 0 against. The slate of members was approved.
Appointed Committee Chairs: Membership - Laurie Sheridan Program - Rebekah Bryant, Debbie Day Merchandise – Cynthia Sadler Concessions – Penny Barrett Friday Grill Team – Tim Loftin
Field House Banners – Pam Kemp – Everyone liked the banner presented to Coach Buchanan at the banquet listing all of this year’s team titles in football. He would like for us to go back to 1996 and create one for each year to display in the field house. Pam indicated it should cost no more than $500. Craig Whisnand made motion to approve expenditures, Mary Ann Loffelholz seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Spring Program – To be included baseball, softball, track, tennis, golf. Group including Glenna Loftin, Debbie Day, Connie Whan and April Zambreski will see that it gets done. Spring Banquet – May Ann Loffelholz to coordinate. Coach Buchanan will look at May 31st and June 4th to see which date is better for the school calendar. There will be no speaker.
New Business
Tennis- Gordon Robertson – Brought several items before the boosters. Coach Buchanan indicated two of the items (new trashcans, and properly fitting gate handles) can and should be handled within the school’s contracts, he will pursue those. Three more items bleachers, concrete and awnings are also within the school’s scope. This left, a new wind screen, 6 new nets, 2 cooler holders, and 6 surface squeegees. A motion was made by Craig Whisnand to approve $2500 for these items, DeeAnn Jones seconded and the motion was passed
Volleyball – Coach Buchanan – requested $175 to have the booster club sponsor an add in honor of Amanda Watlington making the Texas High School All Star team. Connie Whan made a motion, Cynthia Sadler seconded the motion the motion passed.
Field House – Coach Buchanan requested $5000 to purchase 12 additional benches for the field house, these will be used for multiple sports. Terry Hix made a motion to approve, Craig Whisnand seconded the motion, the motion passed.
Soccer – Mary Ann Loffelholz requested $500 for a camera for the soccer team. Cynthia Sadler seconded the motion, the motion passed
Golf – Pam Kemp – Coach Shuster had requested start up money to fund a fund raising project selling metal A’s to go on your vehicle. They are trying to raise money for rain equipment. Due to the timing of the need, the board members had voted on this at the fall banquet and approved the up-front money, Pam was keeping the club informed.
Team Reports
Basketball – Varsity boys lost to Stephenville 54-59, lost to Everman 50-66, and to Alvarado in overtime 61-63. Playing them much closer in the second round of district games. Everyone home on Friday Feb 2, this will be the last at home girl’s game. Bothe travel to Cleburne on Tuesday Feb 6th .
Freshmen girls have won 2 district games and are playing much better these days second round the scores are much closer.
Soccer – MaryAnn Loffelholz Girls are 4-0-0, Boys are 3-0-1 At the games the booster club is selling soccer hoodies, scarf, beanies and car decals
Tennis – Summit meet rained out, We placed at the Keller Central meet (which included many 5a teams). JV has a good group of kids and the Freshmen are improving.
Power Lifting – Going well, Aledo had hosted a meet today
Track – Started January 29th, 150 athletes participating
Baseball – January 29th first official day of practice. Parents meeting moved to February 10th 8:30 at the new field. First varsity scrimmage February 5th at North Crowley.
Softball – Scrimmaged well against Trinity Euless
Golf – Fighting the weather conditions
